Holme Community School and Castle Park School

There are some weeks where the heart just sings with joy.

This has been one of those amazing weeks

On Monday Felicity and Lauren told me which school they judged the best from the primary school choir.

We are are truly grateful for all the entries.

They each chose their best without discussing it with each other!

One chose Holme community school the other chose Castle Park School,of course we will not be saying who selected which!!!

On Monday I spoke to Mrs Anderson and Mrs Richardson the Head teachers and told them their schools had one,but asked them not to say anything to the children

I then spoke to HSP Milners to alter the poster to include Holme and Castle Park.

On Wednesday I went to visit the schools with the news. When the choirs saw their names on the poster they were surprised and excited.

Both choirs sang while I was at the schools-Holme sang “Consider Yourself” from Oliver.

While Castle Park sang Randy Newman’s “You got a friend in me!”

It was a real delight.

So what happens next!Felicity and Lauren have chosen the songs they would like the schools to sing at the show. These songs have been chosen based on the clips that were sent for the competition and boy have they been given some tough songs!

Holme will be singing with the ladies “The First Noel” then as a choir on their own “Away in a manger” this is a tough song to sing well but we know they will nail it!

Castle Park are singing Bobby  Helm’s  “Jingle Bell Rock” with the ladies and as a choir a reallly rousing number which goes back to the 17th Century waits bars “G-d rest ye Merry Gentlemen” This is a lovely song but not easy!Again I am sure Miss Green will have them tutored to perfection.

Felicity and Lauren will go into both schools to rehearse with them when they are in Kendal. On the afternoon of the show the schools will do a sound check with our brilliant sound engineer Matthew Ward,as no pro would ever go on stage without this being done.

We will ensure the schools not only sound fantastic but will look the part too.You will have to get your tickets to see that!

We know that it will be hard work but we are hoping the choirs have lots of fun as well

Thank you for reading

Felicity,Lauren and David
