2017 It is a Wrap!

This has been quite an interesting year. The year began in January(there is a surprise!!) with the Woman2Woman ladies appearing on Expresso Morning Show,

They caused a little bit of a stir with their version of Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable” in a very heavy Cape Flats accent.

The idea came from Ramaine Barreiro-Lloyd.It had already been viral in October 2016 when the ladies were promoting their show.

In january it went crazy with over 6 million people watching the video. It even got then into the Huffington Post

The direct result of this publicity was that Felicity and Lauren as solo artists were given a contract by Next and Orchard Music for their digital music.Anray is part of this deal as the collective.

It means they have a platform whenever they produce music.

Throughout the year the ladies performed at some amazing events in South Africa.Their 2 trips to Oudtshoorn being the stand out memories.Elrico and Nageline really looked after them.

They did 2 shows each time and spent time chatting to the students of the Suff Acadamy as well.

They spread the music message with Sebastian Coledridge on Eden FM.The ladies really enjoyed singing live on air.

Stephen even played Lauren’s debut single Insane Love.

In their down time they visited the caves and the Ostrich farm.

In between times Anray has been getting rave reviews in Musical Theatre particularly for her role as narrator in Kanala District six at the Fugard.

She is currently in Marc Lottering’s Aunty Merle the musical.Lauren sang at Christmas in July

while Felicity Rocked for Cancer in October.

They came together to help Rif’at highlight the problems of substance abuse.Along with an amzing cast of the cream of Cape Town artists,

Lauren was given the honour of opening the show while Felicity knocked ’em dead just after the interval.

The year ended with a show in the UK wher Felicity and Lauren brought their brand of music and love to Kendal.

From South Africa with Love not only raised 13500 Rands for the Kendal Organ Donors and  the flood victimsof November’s floods

The stage was full of star quality The Amabile Choir and the StageCoach dancers were magnificent.

The primary schools of Castle Park and Holme Community School who won the choir competition stole the show.

There was not a dry eye in the theatre when Holme and Felicity performed Away in a Manger.

The ladies also had the opportunity to sing in various places round Kendal. They had to wrap up though as it was freezing for them.

After the show they got the opportunity to see Windermere ,Edinburgh which they loved .They also visited the other “Old Trafford” Anyone who knows me knows the cricket ground is way more important-apparently not to the rest of the world!!The took pictures of Best, Law and  Charlton rather than Washbrook, Statham and Atherton!!!

Back to the music, the article by Francesca Villette in the Cape Times saw “Irreplaceable” go viral for a third time.We woke up to a million views on Twitter on the 20th and within a week the same on Facebook.

We are fully aware not everyone likes this version. It was done as a parody to promote a show, and was intended to bring smiles to people’s faces.

If you are upset by this we are sorry. There was never any intention to upset Beyonce fans or people in their community.

It was a tongue in cheek piece done with exaggeration and humour.

We have enjoyed some of the humorous comments as well, our favourite was “South Africa should have the 2010 Football World Cup retospectively taken away because of this.” We have offered the author 2 VIP tickets to the ladies next show.

I think the year has been fabulous, with lots of laughs as well as hard work.

A huge thank you to everyone who has helped during 2017

I will keep you posted on 2018,where we are working on some exciting things
